The ideal type of DRaaS for your company (I)

The term DRaaS (Disaster Recovery as a Service) has been used increasingly in IT literature, due to the fact that many Companies have shifted the responsibility for data recovery in the event of disastrous situations to third parties. However, despite the fact that its importance has increased, little has been discussed about its classification and the type of solution most appropriate for each company. This is where the topic that will be addressed in this article comes from.   https://mkt.apser.es/ebook-reemplazando-la-cinta-por-la-nube-en-los-wf-de-backup

What does Disaster Recovery as a Service mean?

Since the dawn of the information age, several technological products have emerged in order to address the growing risks that businesses face from data loss. These technological products include, among many others, backup software and information retrieval. These systems have offered companies the possibility of storing their information and recovering it in the event of a problem, through a Wide variety of operating modes, reliability levels and pricesThe three characteristics mentioned above are closely related to whether it is a physical or “cloud” service.

Cloud Backup

Cloud backup, which has become popular even among SMEs in most countries, is a service that has allowed companies to data and applications of a company, are backed up and stored on a remote serverIt is worth noting that companies pay for this type of service in order to have a backup of their data and applications in the cloud, so that they can be available in case their systems fail, a natural disaster occurs, or something as simple and common as a power outage.

Disaster Recovery Solutions

Within this scenario, so-called "disaster recovery as a service" options have emerged in recent years. Disaster Recovery as a Service is more than just an advance on a traditional backup system. It is a data backup and recovery system, which takes advantage of the benefits of the cloud to back up the company's most important computing environment in a latent and virtual state, waiting to be put into operation if necessary.

Backup and DRaaS

The disaster recovery service, as indicated in the literature, is a service focused on IT security, but with different characteristics than simply backing up information in the cloud. Although both are IT security services in the cloud, the difference is that the first of these is a solution in case of disasters in which another company takes control while the data is being recovered by the main company. A simple backup, on the other hand, is a copy of the data and applications that are stored in the cloud.

DRaaS Features

Key features of the “disaster recovery service” include:
  • It is a model in which a supplier or service provider company creates and maintains a "mirror" of the contracting company's data, with the latter's most important applications.
  • Data and application backups are used only in the event of incidents or disasters that could disrupt the continuity of the contracting company's network.
  • In the event of disasters or major incidents, the service provider takes over the role of the primary site almost immediately.
  • The contracting company guarantees its online continuity even in a disaster situation, being able to access its IT environment
