Linda Drinks: SAP Business One ERP to the AWS Cloud
Linda Drinks is an original business initiative dedicated to the production and marketing of 100% natural drinks that combine fruit with other ingredients such as ginger or Sichuan pepper.
Linda Drinks was born from a trip to India by its two founders, where they discovered a recipe for ginger lemonade that they decided to reinvent. In 2014, a couple of years later, they sold the first units of their natural soft drinks. Today, their range of carefully selected products is distributed through more than 800 points of sale.
What challenge did the company face?
The client was interested in Optimize IT services around your SAP Business One ERP (on Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 and SQL Server 2012), which was deployed on a HPE ProLiant ML310e tower physical server located in their offices. This forced them to perform full management of the equipment: updates, backups, warranties, etc.
The risks of maintaining a server in a location not specifically designed for it, as well as the work required to keep it in optimal conditions, were added to the uncertainty of possible growth required when business volume increased.
The client then decided to look for a solution with the following characteristics:
Cloud service
Scalability
Comprehensive management at IT level
Cost optimization
Solution implemented
Apser offered you an initial assessment that would allow us to analyze the current status of your AWS account and, subsequently, our Sherpa support service to be able to implement the potential improvements detected during the assessment.
The customer selected AWS as an industry leader and requested the help of a partner to design and undertake migration to the cloud that met their requirements.
Initially, the cost associated with the migration, corresponding to the reinstallation of all its software on the new platform, was the main obstacle in the process. To overcome this, apser proposed to Linda to carry out a bit-by-bit copy of the disk from your current server to AWS, thus eliminating all the migration work.
To this end, a team was deployed EC2 server based on SSD EBS storage, which had been obtained from a direct copy of the original server. It was also implemented Lifecycle Manager for managing backups, offering 3 daily copies for 30 days (3 times more than on the original platform) and GuardDuty to analyze possible security incidents.

The migration was carried out in two phases:
1
A first phase for the client to validate that the resource selection and migration process had had a positive effect on the server's performance and that its functionality remained exactly the same as on the source server.
2
The second phase was implemented in June 2019 according to the plan designed to not impact the client's business. The migration was undertaken without any incidents.
Results
Once the migration was completed, the client was able to use their platform:
3x
Your security is multiplied by 3 thanks to backup management with Lifecycle Manager
20%
Cost savings, thanks to the server automatically shutting down at night
