Five Flames Mobile: Application deployment on AWS platform
Five Flames Mobile is a company specialized in the development of multiplatform mobile applications. Most of their developments revolve around multimedia applications, games, corporate communication and management applications.
The quality of its products is reflected in the category of its clients: RTVE, Ferrovial, Zity, AGS Airports at its Glasgow and Aberdeen airports, Maybein, Telemadrid…
What challenge did the company face?
El Glasgow airport I had decided that wanted their application deployed on Amazon Web ServicesThis app, available for iOS and Android, provides travelers with real-time information on the status of flights, the ability to select a specific flight to receive notifications, surveys, an interactive map, discount coupons to use in the airport's own shops, and a host of other features aimed at making the experience at the airport much more attractive and comfortable for travelers.
Although Five Flames Mobile had already worked with AWS, the client's requirements were very strict, so they looked for a partner who could help them with this part of the project.
Five Flames Mobile has a policy of seeking collaborations with experts in each sector rather than covering 100% of the project size, and in this case trusted apser to manage the architecture of said application on AWS.
Solution implemented
The first step was to make a Test Deployment Audit that Five Flames Mobile had performed on their AWS account. Following the approach of Well Architected Framework, the development carried out was analyzed and recommendations were given to follow in each of the points.
Once this was done, a new AWS account was deployed for the client and the following were applied to it: Security measures through IAM, CloudTrail and GuardDuty.
In addition, the application code was prepared to be hosted on AWS Elastic BeanStalk and implemented:

CloudFront
RDS
Route53
CloudWatch
Results
The main goal was to pass a security audit performed on the application. Since updated Elastic Beanstalk AMIs with Amazon Linux were being used, system-level protection was guaranteed and the audit was passed without any problems.
However, the design of The architecture was made with scalability and resilience as its maximum exponentsThese principles were put into practice when the airport had a serious problem with the display system that provided flight information.
That day the system of AWS Elastic Beanstalk The app automatically scaled to accommodate the increased usage of the app. Once the usage pattern returned to normal, resources that were no longer needed were removed. The responsiveness of the app led the client to congratulate Five Flames Mobile on its performance.
In addition, Five Flames Mobile won the 2018 e-volution award in the “Best Mobility Solution” category for this project. This award is given to those companies that have developed a Mobility app that facilitates the digital transformation of citizens, taking excellent advantage of both the format and the particularities of mobile devices.

Next steps
Following the success of Glasgow Airport, the same application was deployed but this time for Aberdeen Airport. This same application is currently available in the process of implementation in other airports.
Likewise, Five Flames Mobile is evaluating with the help of apser the modifications that would be necessary in its application to be able to use Amazon Cognito as an identification system.
