New AWS Europe Spain region

Amazon Web Services today announced the opening of the new AWS Europe Spain Region . This development will allow customers to run their workloads and securely store all their content in Spain, with the assurance of complete control over their data. The new region, located in Aragon, will feature three Availability Zones (AZs) for deploying customer applications, further enhancing the benefits of the AWS cloud.

Impact and economic growth

We're not just talking about technical benefits, but also the growth it represents for Spain's business sector. According to AWS data, the new Europe Spain Region "will support more than 1300 full-time jobs , with a planned investment of €2500 billion in Spain over 10 years." Furthermore, in its efforts to bring digital transformation to more communities, the region's launch is accompanied by the AWS InCommunities Fund, which will be allocated to groups, schools, and NPOs for the development of ICT projects.

Why did you choose the Aragon region? From Aragon, AWS can cover all of Spain, Portugal, France, and much of Europe. Aragon aligns with your needs because it has a significant number of ICT companies with a strong need for support.

The region attracts many technological professional profiles and means that the training offered in the area leans heavily towards this type of university degree.

Amazon has invested a great deal of time in identifying the territory, looking for the appropriate characteristics to be able to carry out the implementation of the infrastructure and has held many conversations with the government to identify the business fabric of the area and whether it would allow it to establish its three data centres, taking into account that it would require a large amount of resources, especially energy and communication.

AWS Europe Spain in detail

One of AWS's cloud promises is to guarantee the resilience and availability of customer workloads, but how is this achieved? The AWS Region in Spain consists of three availability zones , separated from each other to ensure the continuity of customer applications and to enable the deployment of more fault-tolerant, redundant, and low-latency services.

The new region also ensures the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.

Companies and organizations such as BBVA, Cabify, the IT department of social security, the Barcelona clinical hospital, Meliá, Renfe and Repsol are some of the clients that have shown their support for the introduction of AWS in Spain. They say that this implementation will help accelerate digital transformation, drive innovation and offer the best experiences to their customers.

AWS partners in Spain are also participating in this welcome , such as apser as an Advanced level partner , who state that the launch of the region will offer additional advantages such as data energy efficiency in the country and will mean that we can benefit from the agility, scalability, security, flexibility and reliability of AWS.
