What is Governance in a Box?

It is the fully standard packaged service through which apser deploys an account structure in AWS with the recommended configurations to be able to manage workloads in AWS in a secure, scalable and organized manner.

The deployment carried out by apser guarantees the protection of the organization, data and personnel. It also helps the IT department to be in sync with business objectives, while reducing risks.

Governance in-a-box has as its cornerstone AWS Control Tower, a service that enables you to securely establish and control a multi-account AWS environment.

AWS Control Tower simplifies AWS experiences by coordinating multiple AWS services on your behalf while maintaining the security and compliance needs of your organization.

Control Tower enables you to have an AWS account architecture configured according to best practices, which enables the automation of new account creation, with the possibility of applying recommended practices, standards and regulatory requirements.

Why Governance in a Box?

One of the major security and governance recommendations in any environment is to separate workloads. In AWS this can be done by deploying multiple accounts based on the criteria that the client decides: By end customer, by type of environment (dev-pre-prod), by deployed solution or by a combination of these.

The problem with having multiple AWS accounts is that proper management of them means multiplying the associated work.

Governance in-a-box is the solution to these challenges, as it allows you to centralize the management of all AWS accounts while maintaining an adequate level of governance. For example, it allows you to create an AWS user and assign them access to all the AWS accounts that the organization has with the necessary permissions for each one.

Governance in-a-box is based, among others, on the AWS Organizations service, which allows for the centralized integration of different AWS services such as centralized logging, threat analysis or backup management, so that the management of these services can be done in a unified and efficient manner.

What is Governance in a Box?

apser deploys for the client a structure of AWS accounts configured following best practices, with governance and security services activated so that from day one the environment can be used with maximum traceability, security and management control.

In order to complete the creation, some basic information is required, such as email addresses, URLs and work regions. All necessary parameters are specified in the “Requirements” section.

What does apser contribute?

All services deployed and configured by apser within a Governance in-a-box project are standard AWS services available for any customer to use. Anyone can independently deploy and configure all these services, but it requires a clear understanding of what you want to achieve, how to configure it, information about all the services involved, knowledge of best practices in this regard, etc. All this effort dedicated to a process that is only going to be executed once is something that does not make much sense in most cases.

apser, as AWS Advanced Partner, has undertaken this process for multiple clients and manages these environments on a regular basis, allowing us to deploy a perfectly configured environment eliminating any effort required by the client.

apser bases its deployments and configurations on AWS best practices in this regard, as well as the Well Architected Framework and adopting the main requirements of the National Security Scheme.
