Auto Backup: Why You Should Use It
Backups are a necessary hassle (for both individual users and businesses), which can be made easier by using automated tools. “Those things never happen to me.” “I know people who have, but I’m careful about this.” “My computer is new, the data is safe.” You’ve probably heard (or uttered) some of those phrases. And they’re right. Nothing ever happens… until it does. And Murphy’s Law will be there to remind us that, just that week, we didn’t back up our data, or that we didn’t save changes to that document, because we have it permanently open on our computer. Until the power goes out.

All of these situations are common for IT security departments, which try to instill in users the need to install (and use!) security tools.
backup to make a regular backup of your files. But even so, it is difficult to establish a discipline in periodically storing important data. That is why, for a long time, there have been
Auto Backup Apps, which perform these backups periodically without user interaction.
Types of auto backup applications
These applications are active in the background, and can work in two different ways.
- Some Auto backup tools are capable of detect user inactivity moments (breaks, meetings, etc.) and make a copy, in whole or in part, of the files that have been updated since the last recording. The saving processes are more frequent, but also shorter (they stop when returning to work), so the user hardly notices a drop in the performance of their computer.
- Other tools, perhaps more preferred by IT security departments, are capable of pSchedule this backup periodically and at a time when the probability of disturbing the user is lower, such as at night or on weekends.
In addition, both types of tools are
capable of storing multiple versions of the same document, which allows us to recover a specific version – perhaps an older one, which still contained information that we deleted in the last one.
Working safely with auto backup
In any case, the use of these backup tools is recommended both for personal use, with subscriptions to different low-cost cloud services, and for professional use, by turning to specialized companies that provide a higher level of protection for our data. The greater the amount of information to be protected (of course, also related to how many computers or distributed offices a company may have), the greater the need to use these applications. The cost of this service provided by external companies must be compared with the potential cost of regenerating the lost information. And, usually, the former is much lower. Are you still thinking about it?
