AWS Competency for Nonprofits and NGOs
Non-profit organizations focus on adding value to their stakeholders in addition to operating at the highest levels of efficiency. The outbreak of the pandemic has made their work even more complicated, reducing the number of partners, volunteers and donors and, consequently, making it much more difficult to achieve their strategic objectives. In this scenario, Cloud services represent a great opportunity to maximize the impact of digitalization and ensure the continuity of your mission.
In 2018, apser became part of the AWS partner ecosystem in Iberia and, since then, has collaborated with more than 20 non-profit organizations from different fields: health, education, sports, humanitarian... The experience gathered has given us a extensive knowledge of the purpose, needs and limitations of these organizationsThis is a significant benefit for all of them, as the lead times for both pre-sale and project implementation are significantly reduced.
Furthermore, We actively collaborate with TechSoup Spain, a non-profit organization that promotes the digitalization of the third sector and through whose program access to technology is facilitated by this type of organizations. In recent years, apser has managed a significant amount of AWS credits, helping a multitude of entities to start or accelerate their digital transformation process with the aim of improving their efficiency and reach at a global level.
Improving Non-Profit Security, Accessibility and Communication
Over the last few years, apser has designed and implemented various cloud solutions with the aim of facilitating the digital transformation of these types of organizations and accelerating the fulfillment of their missions without worrying about the 24X7 operation of their information systems and without forgetting the optimization of their costs. The objective is none other than to achieve a higher level of service with a lower cost of ownership.
In these four years, apser has been able to work with different types of entities helping them to:
- Ensuring the continuity of your business through backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Facilitate teleworking and secure remote access for workers, collaborators and volunteers by deploying the most appropriate services in each case: servers for hosting management applications, virtual desktops with Amazon Workspaces, high availability file storage with EFS, FSx or S3, collaborative work with Amazon WorkDocs…
- Improve communication with its partners thanks to the implementation of Contact Center solutions based on AmazonConnect or to the hosting of your corporate web pages
Some Non-Profit use cases in Iberia
Conversion of an in-person event to a virtual one
In the case of the Spanish Society of Cardiology, the imposition of confinement measures decreed by the Government due to the COVID-19 pandemic posed a challenge for the organizers of its annual congress, who had to propose an online version.
The apser team helped them to size up the technological needs of the event and to design a robust, secure and flexible platform, capable of offering an optimal experience to the thousands of congress attendees who were going to connect from different points around the planet. Secure access to management tools
One of the needs that the partner detects most frequently is to optimize the security levels of access to the systems or data of the entities. This is the case of the NGO United Bible Groups, which needed to improve the security of access to its management software by its distributed users.
The simple migration of their servers from on-premise to the AWS cloud already meant the change to a secure and high-performance infrastructure that allowed them to comply with the National Security Scheme, thus ensuring the correct protection of the information contained in their systems.
In addition, a series of complementary services were implemented, such as intrusion detection using the Amazon GuardDuty service or backup management with LifeCycle Manager, which provided an additional layer of protection to the organization's information assets. You can find more information about this use case at this link.
Why should you have an AWS Partner Network partner?
You may be wondering why you should rely on a partner. Here are some reasons:
- Because it will allow you to unload work that is not adding value to your business.
- Because Your systems will be in the hands of experts in AWS solutions and services that will be responsible for applying the good practices established in the AWS Well-Architected Framework
- Because you will have access to a team of IT specialists in continuous training
- Because a partner like apser will make sure that your platform is optimized, so that you are spending only what is necessary at any given time
- In short, because you will be able to dedicate yourself to what really matters, the mission of your entity
