The 6 most used strategies in the migration to AWS
Typically, companies begin looking for ways to migrate an application once they have determined their environment and what needs to be migrated. With this approach, organizations must outline a strategy for how they will approach the process of migrating to the AWS cloud.

Cloud migration strategies
The complexity of application migration varies depending on multiple factors, so there is no single strategy for an IT product portfolio.
However, AWS presents six strategies that, although not the only ones, are the most used and serve to identify the migration strategy that best fits a product portfolio.
Rehosting
It is common for most applications to be rehosted in migrations with a large volume of IT assets. This rehosting can be done manually while applying legacy systems to the cloud or automatically.
Applications are easier to repurpose once they are running in the cloud, since the most difficult part of the process (migrating the application, data, and traffic) has already been done.
Replatform
It involves making optimizations in the IT environment to achieve tangible benefits without having to modify the entire core architecture of the application.
repurchase
It is the decision to change a product, through a version upgrade. Used in migrations where workloads can be easily upgraded and such an upgrade allows for improved process implementation and feature set.
Redesign
A strategy based on modifying application features. It is typically used in circumstances where adding features or improving performance would otherwise be more difficult to achieve.
Retention
Consists in Migrate only IT assets that make sense for the business and keep on-premises those applications that are not ready to migrate to the cloud or that the organization prefers to keep in physical facilities.
Retirada
Retirement would be based on identifying IT assets that are no longer useful for business development. As the migration process progresses, you may find assets that are not needed. Decommissioning them will help you focus on maintaining the most used resources.
